Our space:

The CityShakes Studio is not your traditional theater – it’s far more interesting! The City Shakespeare Company is housed in an early-twentieth-century, warehouse space, with exposed brick, wooden rafters, and intimate bench-style seating.

The space is very connected to the climate: it gets hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. Dress accordingly!

Some of our patrons like to bring thin cushions (a la Dodgers Stadium) to cushion their bums against the hard-wood benches. We do NOT offer cushions for purchase or rental at the theater.

Where we are:

The CityShakes Studio is located in the heart of downtown Santa Monica, at Lincoln Blvd. and Broadway.

Our entrance is through ModShop Furniture Store. Enter through the storefront at 1454 Lincoln Blvd. and you’ll be guided to the theater in the back of the building.

Where to park:

Leave time to park! Santa Monica is a hoppin’ place, and CityShakes’ events are popular.

Free metered street parking is available on all nearby streets after 6pm Monday-Saturday, and all day Sunday.

Can’t find street parking? There are also many affordable parking garages. We recommend parking in the garage at the Santa Monica Public Library. The garage entrance is located on 7th St. between Santa Monica Blvd. and Arizona. Please be aware that the garage closes at 11pm! Click here for a map.

Other FAQs:

How do I get tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online here, over the phone via 310-657-8739, or at the door. Be sure to get your tickets in advance, though, as they do sell out!

Are your shows family-friendly?
We welcome patrons of all ages, but parental discretion is advised for children under 13. Twelfth Night contains sexual innuendo, references to marijuana use, and depictions of heavy drinking.

Are pets allowed?
No pets, please – service animals excepted.

Are the seats reserved?
All tickets are general admission. A ticket guarantees you a seat, but does not assign you a particular seat. Our theater is bench-style seating, so you will need to cozy up to your fellow audience members!

When should I arrive?
Please leave time to park, and arrive at the theater at least 15 minutes before showtime. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. Unclaimed tickets may be given to those on the wait list 10 minutes before showtime. And the house opens 5 minutes before showtime. PLEASE NOTE: due to the intimate nature of this space, there is NO LATE SEATING. If for some reason you miss the start of the show, we will be happy to exchange your tickets for another performance date at no charge. Please call 310-657-8739.

Do you sell concessions?
No. We do offer bottled water and wine for a suggested donation.
